This product was initiated to find a suitable solution for excess Bagasse that is left over after every crushing season at a Sugar Mill in Malawi. Understanding the context of Malawi and the high rate of deforestation taking place to satisfy the domestic cooking needs. A Research and Development project were initiated to turn the bagasse into a viable energy source for the domestic market. Thus, not only aiding in combating deforestation but create a revenue stream from waste. The project saw the successful implementation of a Pelletisation plant from Bagasse including upstream conditioning and packaging system, with pellets being produced having a Gross Calorific Value in Excess of 19 MJ/kg.
