Activated Carbon Plant Design and Commissioning

Activated Carbon Plant Design and Commissioning

The aim of this project was to see whether activated carbon can be manufactured from wood waste, with a surface area great enough to enter the market.  Bara initially did bench scale testing on design on the bio-char obtained from a Pyrolysis plant, the Bio-char was then further beneficiated via thermal activation methods and acid activation methods.  The results of this study were then used to further design a pilot scale plant.  The plant was then built and is currently ready for production.  The results obtained should significant results into the reaction kinetics of forming activated carbon and that Fixed Carbon, can successfully be increased from waste streams not conventionally used for the production of Activated Carbon.
